Our Curriculum

Religion

At Abiding Peace Academy, God’s Word is at the center of everything we do. Students study Bible history, Christian doctrine, memory work, prayer, and hymns while growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Daily religion instruction helps students develop a strong faith, apply God’s truth to their lives, and confidently share the hope of the Gospel with others.

Mathematics

Our mathematics program develops strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Using the Saxon Math curriculum, students build fluency in computation while exploring number sense, measurement, geometry, algebraic thinking, and real-world applications. Students are encouraged to think critically and use mathematics as a tool to understand God's orderly creation.

Language Arts

The Language Arts program equips students to communicate effectively through reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students develop strong literacy skills through phonics, grammar, vocabulary, literature, composition, and public speaking. Our goal is to help students become confident communicators who use language to learn, serve, and share God's love with others.

Social Studies

Students explore history, geography, government, economics, and cultures through a Christian worldview. By studying people, places, and events throughout history, students gain a deeper understanding of God's guiding hand in the world while developing the knowledge and character needed to become informed, responsible citizens and servant leaders.

Science

Our science program encourages curiosity and discovery while helping students understand the world God created. Through hands-on investigations, experiments, and inquiry-based learning, students explore life science, earth science, physical science, and STEM concepts. Students learn to think critically, solve problems, and appreciate the complexity and beauty of God's creation.

Physical Education

Physical Education promotes lifelong wellness through physical activity, healthy habits, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students develop physical fitness, coordination, leadership skills, and an understanding of how to care for the bodies God has given them.

Music

Music instruction helps students develop an appreciation for God's gift of music while building foundational skills in singing, rhythm, melody, and musical expression. Students participate in worship, performances, and special programs that allow them to use their talents to glorify God and serve others.

Art

The art program encourages creativity, self-expression, and appreciation for beauty through a variety of artistic media and techniques. Students learn artistic skills while exploring how their God-given talents can be used to reflect the creativity of their Creator.

Technology

Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum of our upper grades to support learning, creativity, research, communication, and problem-solving. Students develop responsible digital citizenship and learn how to use technology effectively and ethically in an ever-changing world.

MAP GROWTH TESTS

Consistently aiming higher on national  standards.

In addition to the daily curriculum, students in grades 2-8 take nationally developed MAP Growth tests each year. The tests are administered across the entire nation, so comparison is made to all American students, not just those in South Carolina. As shown by the graph below, APA students consistently score above national averages in all areas.
